About the role
The Business & IP Centre at the British Library is committed to helping small business across the country gain the skills that they need to innovate and grow. The Get Ready for Business Growth Programme is the BIPCs flagship scale-up programme. Funded by the British Library it helps small businesses nation-wide to scale. The programme consists of quarterly cohorts where 25 businesses receive tailored, virtual business support. In addition to the scale-up strand the programme also runs a mentoring strand for earlier stage businesses and a series of quarterly start-up events.
Get Ready for Business Growth is seeking a personable, highly organised, relationship manager to guide businesses through the programme. You will be a central point of contact for approximately 12 – 13 entrepreneurs each quarter, helping them navigate the programme and providing an ongoing source of support after they’ve graduated. You will also provide light touch relationship management for an existing graduate pool of circa 400 graduates, and oversee relationship management for the mentoring stream of the programme. The ideal candidate will have exceptional people skills, an understanding of the challenges faced by small business, and excellent attention to detail. You will join an enthusiastic team dedicated to helping small businesses to thrive.
Please note this is a fixed term contract to 31st March 2026. For internal candidates this post is available as a secondment.

We work with partners and libraries across the UK and the world to make sure that as many people as possible have the chance to use and explore our collections, events, and expertise. And we’re always open online, along with more and more of our digitised collection.
