About the Museum

The British Museum is unique in bringing together the cultures of the world under one roof, spanning continents and oceans. Its eight million objects allow us to explore the extraordinary diversity of human cultures, from small communities to vast empires, to discover the many forms and expressions human beings have given to every aspect of life, and to realise how closely they are interconnected.

This context makes for a fascinating and inspiring environment in which to further develop your career in Human Resources and this is an ideal time to join us as our function continues to evolve. In early 2024 we launched a refreshed HR strategy to enable us to support the leadership and management teams of the British Museum and British Museum Company Ltd with high quality strategic and operational HR advice. We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager to join our HR team.

As our EDI Manager for HR, you will lead on all matters relating to EDI working closely with employees and their representatives (trade unions) and working collaboratively across the HR team to contribute subject specific knowledge and expertise. You will also support delivery across the full range of HR activity, including recruitment, reward and benefits, training and development, employee relations and organisation development. Supporting the design, development and delivery of the EDI elements of the HR Strategy, providing expertise to the delivery of EDI initiatives, developing relevant policies and procedures and ensuring compliance are also key elements of the role.

About you:

You will have previous experience in an HR role, specifically managing the development and delivery of successful equality, diversity and inclusion programmes and initiatives. You will also have experience of developing policies and procedures. An ability to balance conflicting demands and priorities is essential as is proven experience of managing and resolving complex problems across a wide range of disciplines. You will also need to bring experience of working with stakeholders at all levels and across internal and external audiences to the role.

The Museum offers a competitive benefits package including:

Generous annual leave allowance of 25 days (rising to 30 days after 10 years’ service) plus 2.5 privilege days and plus bank holidays
