Senior Membership Officer, Member Engagement (Maternity Cover)

The Senior Membership Officer, Member Engagement contributes to the continued growth and success of the membership scheme at Royal Museums Greenwich through the delivery of a robust recruitment and retention programme. They provide excellent customer service to all members and prospective members, contribute to the efficient running of the membership programme, and generate income for Royal Museums Greenwich.

Key elements of the role will include providing excellent and timely administration and customer service, including Membership sales, renewals and lapsed reactivations; always being professional, considerate, polite, and pragmatic in dealing with Member enquiries via phone and email. They will closely monitor the Membership inbox alongside the Senior Membership Officer, Business Support, and will escalate complaints to the Senior Manager, Membership as appropriate. The role is responsible for planning and delivering an engaging and bespoke Member events programme, and leading on the production and scheduling of regular communications, including monthly e-newsletters and the Members magazine. The successful candidate will take a lead in running Membership recruitment campaigns on site and online and will work with the team to run a robust retention programme supporting a drive towards targeted Membership communication.

The successful candidate will have significant experience working for a Membership organisation or similar. They will be experienced in organising events and building communications for different audiences. They will be confident, polite and diplomatic, with the ability to provide excellent customer service on the phone, email and in person. They will be a persuasive copy writer and have experience of using a membership, CRM or similar database. A good knowledge of working with Direct Debits is essential, and a knowledge of GDPR is desirable.

This is a fixed-term 12-month maternity cover position in Band 5 – Middle Management and Professional Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management.
