Junior Solutions Engineer

Do you have great customer service skills and the ability to translate the needs of your customer into technical requirements? Can you actively engage with 3rd party suppliers/contractors?

About the role
We are looking for a part-time Junior Solutions Engineer to join us two days a week! You will be joining a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, providing quality technical services to our customer and infrastructure operations along with project functions within ICT.

You will be understanding and translating customer briefs and providing them through configuring relevant LAN, Firewall and WLAN equipment in place, including patching in customer devices and testing everything is ready to go.

You will support events by performing pre-checks and configuration, monitoring during events, and post-event reconfigurations so that the space is ready for the next client. You will create support documentation to enable efficient operation and cover by the wider team. When not actively supporting the event space you will provide general 1st and 2nd line ICT support for the Science Museum site.

This position will give a great exposure to new products with peer-based training provided along the way. You will have every opportunity to use this exposure, and the diversity it brings, to develop your career in IT, developing skills through both informal and formal training and through on-the-job learning.

The part-time nature of this role will either cover Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday every week. This can be discussed in more detail at interview.

Salary: £14,360 per annum for 14 hours per week (£30,900 FTE)

About you
You are customer focused, approachable, organised and a good listener. Keen to get involved, you have a great aptitude to learn and have a curious attitude.

A natural collaborator, you have the ability to be highly responsive to the needs of your team and are eager to help your stakeholders to resolve any technical issues. You have great interpersonal skills and can flex your style to work with a range of different people.

You will also have experience or exposure to basic network switch and troubleshooting; active directory and desktop support.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
