Pay and Reward Consultant

Fixed Term Appointment to 31st October 2025

Pay and reward is an essential part of the psychological contract between our people and the organisation. It is a big part of how people feel within the organisation, and therefore has a critical impact on morale. A fit for purpose pay and reward strategy and practices are vital if the organisation is to attract and retain the skills required for successful delivery of its strategic ambitions.


As the organisation’s technical expert on pay and reward, this fixed term post will lead the creation and implementation of a pay and reward strategy that includes an overarching pay policy that is open and transparent. They will use their specialist expertise to research and shape proposals and gain approval from the Executive Team, Board, and any external bodies, before securing and managing the resources required for implementation.


The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that our pay and reward strategy, policies and practices focus on meeting the needs of the organisation and our people, and are affordable, whilst complying with statutory, Cabinet Office and Treasury requirements and in supporting the People, Inclusion and Change Strategic Plan, especially regarding attracting and retaining the best people.


The work of this role will have an impact on every member of staff and will require collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to make significant decisions across a range of issues. Whilst there is no formal line management responsibility, the role will be required to supervise colleagues, overseeing their contributions to the pay and reward work via a project management approach.
