Location: Hot Desks across Birmingham Museum Sites / Hybrid

This new role will play a crucial part in leading the direction of Birmingham Museums Trust’s (BMT’s) income generating trading activity (and other income generating projects as required). This role will play a critical part in helping secure the long term financial sustainability of BMT.


This role will be the strategic lead for the services delivered by our wholly owned subsidiary ‘Birmingham Museums Trading Limited’ which includes retail, food & beverage and venue hire. The role will be responsible for planning and implementing new income generating business streams as well as ensuring the existing streams are both efficient and highly profitable.


Within this role you will lead a team of enterprise specialists including a Retail Operations Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, a team of Venue Hire Managers and more. The role will work alongside other managers to implement commercial best practice across the trust.


To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Can demonstrate strategic thinking and problem solving
Experience of implementing change and measuring success/ progress.
Experience of legislative requirements in our business areas and health & safety
Strong financial acumen in respect of trading businesses
