Location: Hot Desks across Birmingham Museum Sites / Hybrid

This new role will play a crucial part in leading the direction of Birmingham Museums Trust’s (BMT’s) Digital, Brand and Marketing teams who in turn are critical to sharing our vision, connecting with our audiences and using digital as a vehicle to bring our encyclopaedic collection to life.


This role will lead our Digital team who are responsible for a variety of digital projects, our web and digital platforms. The Digital team connect with our audiences both onsite and offsite and support wider teams across BMT to showcase their work. The role will also lead the Marketing team who communicate to our audiences, share our programming and inspire the people of Birmingham and beyond to engage with the trust. Our Marketing team are also responsible for our brand sentiment and customer feedback and this role will play a crucial role in ensuring we constantly adapt and grow based on our visitor feedback as well as develop brand awareness through an effective comms and PR strategy. This role will also have responsibility for our IT function, the team which underpins our ability to operate digitally and at pace.

To succeed in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

An understanding of the Trust's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Strong leadership skills
Experience of leading and growing a marketing/digital or communications function.
Can demonstrate strategic thinking and problem solving
Experience of implementing change and measuring success/ progress.
Experience of legislative requirements in our business areas and health & safety
Strong reporting and financial acumen to manage marketing and comms ROI.
