Loans Coordinator: Loans and Exhibitions

About the role:
Effectively co-ordinate the Museum’s loan projects and reactive loans, whilst maintaining high standards in Museum practice and risk management.

Key areas of responsibility:
• Respond to loan requests from external borrowers, maintain records on the Loans database and co-ordinate object loans from the collections of the British Museum to exhibitions in the UK and worldwide.
• Deliver logistical arrangements connected with loan projects in compliance with licences and legal requirements and assist with other object moves for acquisition or other purposes as required.
• Finance administration including processing purchase orders, invoices and budget monitoring.
• Act as a contact point for internal and external queries about procedures for loan projects.
• Ensure that arrangements for the loan of objects from the Museum are in line with established policy and procedure, and are handled efficiently and in a timely manner

About you:
• Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of museum and cultural sector
• Experience of financial administration
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience of working in a museum/gallery or related organisation (desirable)
• Experience of project processes including risk management (desirable)
