Digital Assistant

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a unique attraction in south east London where world cultures and the natural world are brought together for everyone to enjoy. The Museum holds internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as a popular natural history gallery and Aquarium. The 16 acres of beautiful Gardens feature a tropical Butterfly House and offer stunning views across London.

We are looking for a Digital Assistant to have day-to-day responsibility for the Horniman’s website, intranet and social media. You will generate or edit much of our day-to-day content (written, imagery, video, audio) in line with our campaign and plans, support and contribute to digital media activities, as well as provide administration support. It is an exciting time to join the team, as we are working on a major project - Nature + Love - over the next few years.

You will be a good digital all-rounder with exceptional knowledge of digital and social media platforms, an interest in digital developments and be passionate about creating fun, interesting content. You will have experience of working with content management systems and using a variety of social media platforms in a business context, as well as generating content. At ease producing short form video (like reels) and comfortable with meme and internet cultures.

The closing date for completed applications is 10am on Monday 19 August 2024. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 August 2024. The Horniman is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

The Horniman is an equal opportunities employer and we value and celebrate diversity. We want to better represent the communities in which we work but recognise that there is still much work to do in this area. We welcome and encourage all applicants and particularly encourage you to apply if you are from a community that is often disadvantaged by society or of ethnically diverse background.
