Development Manager

Our two sites, in the City at Smithfield, due to open in 2026; and London Museum Docklands in East London, offer a home where all of London’s stories cross and collide. At London Museum Docklands we tell how international trade, migration, enslavement and the river Thames were integral to shaping London and how its history resonates today. By 2026 we aim to be the most compelling reason to visit West India Quay and Canary Wharf, and be renowned for the way in which the museum connects deeply with people locally, across the UK, the West Indies and beyond.
The Development Manager role is a new position in the Fundraising team, and will play a pivotal role in securing financial support with a particular focus for our programme of exhibitions, engagement and events at Docklands, as well as preparing for a planned capital campaign in the coming years. The successful candidate is likely to be an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing five and six figure donations or above particularly from corporates and/or trusts and foundations, including for capital fundraising campaigns. They will be a relationship builder and an outstanding communicator who can manage a pipeline of prospects and turn detailed project information into compelling fundraising propositions, both face-to-face and in writing. We welcome applicants who reflect London’s diverse communities and who have a passion for the cultural sector and the work of the museum.
