Programme and Networks Manager

The IWMI prides itself on being one of the most agile departments within the museum, able to respond quickly in our programming to changing current event and geopolitical climates. Our mission is to provide important historical context to conflicts today, drawing from our research agenda and our extensive collections. We provide a platform for some of the world’s foremost conflict experts and regularly work alongside media partners such as Sky News and the BBC to amplify our conversations. We welcome people of all ages, although we predominantly focus on young adult and academic audiences to encourage diversification and legacy-building within the museum.

In addition, we work in collaboration with our global network of experts, academic researchers, eyewitnesses and IWM Associates who feed into our research projects, our programme and wider museum activities. As part of our IWM Associate network initiative, we run a series of events themed around the Future of War, encouraging horizon-scanning in the field of war and conflict which might influence and inspire IWM’s public programme in 10-20 years’ time.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual with a demonstrable interest in current world affairs and geopolitics (ideally linked to war and conflict), and associated thought-leadership, to join our team as our Programme and Networks Manager, based in IWM’s museum in Lambeth Road, London. This role will primarily be focused on managing and growing our IWM Associates network, overseeing all IWM Institute activity relating to the Associates, and developing and rolling out our new Next Gen Network for young professionals with an interest in war and conflict.

Reporting to the Head of the IWM Institute and working closely with the Content and Programming Manager and Research Manager, this person will enjoy networking and convening like-minded people and organisations to facilitate debate and discussion on zeitgeist topics within our remit. They will be creative and innovative in their outlook and enjoy experimenting with new ideas when it comes to network engagement and community building. They will demonstrate a track record in measuring impact and evaluating projects thoroughly, working to institutional KPIs and departmental objectives.

This is a one-year fixed term contract (maternity cover). Working hours will also include some weekend and evening working days, for which time off in lieu will be given.

For a full list of duties and the person specification (which your application will be marked against) please view the Job Description.
