Marketing Officer

We are looking for a talented and organised Marketing Officer to join our small and friendly Marketing team.

You will develop and manage a range of marketing activity and projects to support The National Archives’ business plan and marketing objectives.

You will lead on events marketing, supporting programming teams to shape, present and promote engaging events for public and research audiences. You will support our retail team with seasonal and timely campaigns. You will maintain relationships with and grow our audience(s) and design and develop a range of digital and print campaigns to support a diverse and variable portfolio of projects.

You will manage relationships with external partners, organisations and suppliers including managing external agencies, designers and producers, liaising with tourism bodies and building reciprocal relationships with peer organisations.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department.

A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

Essential criteria:

- Hands-on experience of developing and managing multi-channel marketing campaigns from start to finish (including multimedia, email and social media) – especially to promote events and other cultural programming
- Commercially aware, experience of commissioning and managing suppliers, working to budget and setting and meeting targets
- Excellent written English, with versatile copy editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, experience of working in and leading project teams, presenting and influencing
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, can work flexibly, think creatively to solve problems, and demonstrate sound judgement

Desirable criteria:

- Experience of design, brand management and corporate identity
- Hands-on experience of digital advertising, especially Meta and/or e-commerce advertising
- Knowledge of the cultural sector; interest in history and archive sector; understanding of marketing in public sector context
