Visitor Insight Officer

Visitor Insight Officer

Would you like to help us better understand our visitors and gain insight into their opinions and experiences? Do you have experience working with data and statistics to write reports and create tables?

About us

At the Science Museum Group, we want to grow our audiences to over 5 million physical visits, whilst also ensuring a high-quality experience evidenced by positive visitor feedback. We are working to reach audiences that are more diverse and representative of the communities we serve.

The Visitor Insight team is a critical part of achieving this ambition, focused on researching exactly what our diverse audiences want. Operating across our 5 national museums, the team profile our visitors and seek to understand their motivations, what they visit, take part in, spend, and most importantly, what they think of their experience.

We are now recruiting for a Visitor Insight Officer on a permanent contract based at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week with hybrid working available.

About the role

As Visitor Insight Officer, you will help to form the bridge between what we do as a Group of museums and what our visitors want, assisting the Visitor Insight Manager in the research, delivery and dissemination of strategically valuable information.

You will coordinate on-site fieldwork timetables across the relevant museum sites and act as a primary contact between Visitor Insight and fieldwork agencies. You will assist the Visitor Insight Manager in delivering the monthly visitor feedback reports and by compiling data from previous reports and creating tables of data in either Word or Excel, or charts in Excel.

As part of the role you will be given training to enable you to deliver small-to-medium size visitor research projects working with Marketing, Public Programmes and Exhibition teams and the ability to create questionnaires in Snap Surveys software.

About you

Joining us you will have experience of interpreting and challenging statistics in addition to experience of reading data tables and writing succinct reports. You will be organised and methodical with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in your work.

Crucially, you will be able to communicate with others clearly and have the ability to present information and findings to colleagues in informal and formal settings. You will understand why good customer service and visitor experience are important to museums and how visitor insights can influence what we do.
