We are looking for a Network Specialist to join our St Pancras team. This role is needed to undertake Network related tasks while working alongside an existing team member in St Pancras and two Network Specialists in Boston Spa.
Working closely with existing partners, we provide LAN/WAN/WIFI and Firewall support for the whole of the BL. The support also covers some legacy telephony and Teams support, again leveraging a partner. The BL recognises that there is value in developing the internal support team, to work alongside partners but with strong local knowledge of the site.
Following the Cyber-attack in October 2023, the BL has been rebuilding its IT capability, with a strong emphasis on Security at all levels. This includes both on-premise infrastructure but also a growing amount of Infrastructure in the Cloud (predominantly Azure).
This role needs a strong balance of both technical and customer support skills, in addition to a collaborative approach both within existing BL teams but also with our support partners. The nature of the work will involve gaining and maintaining a good knowledge of the BL’s networking equipment locations and strong troubleshooting skills.

We operate the world’s largest document delivery service providing millions of items a year to customers all over the world. What matters to us is that we preserve the national memory and enable knowledge to be created both now and in the future by anyone, anywhere.
In return, we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits. Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes a minimum of 28.97% (this may be higher dependant on grade. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays. This role qualifies for a digital allowance.
