Do you have great communication skills and the ability to provide a warm welcome to our visitors?
About us
The Science Museum's world-class collection forms an enduring record of scientific, technological, and medical advancement from across the globe. As part of the world leading Science Museum Group, the Science Museum in London is known for its inspiring collections and excellent visitor experience.
Joining our Visitor Fundraising team, you will be responsible for delivering the highest standards of customer service by providing a warm welcome to our diverse audiences, asking for voluntary donations, and managing admission at the entrance of the museum.
About the role
Internally known as a Visitor Fundraiser, we are looking for someone to join our team on a part time weekend basis, covering every Saturday and Sunday.
As a part of our front of house team, you will be one of the first faces our visitors see when they enter the museum. You will have the confidence to engage with our visitors in a professional and friendly manner and ask for donations as part of a warm visitor welcome.
Working with our wider Visitor Experience team, you will help to manage visitor flow at the entrance of the museum and be responsible for processing museum admission tickets. You will be placed at one of the most lively and busy locations in the Museum - actively promoting the museum offer, up selling our commercial and retail activities, and encouraging Gift Aid and email opt-ins to ensure we meet our targets.
About you
You have a friendly and accommodating approach to a range of people and a willingness to acquire the skills to become truly visitor-focused.
You will be a true advocate for the Museum - with the ability to absorb information and communicate this in a positive and engaging way. Using your great communication skills, you will actively approach or encourage donations from our diverse audiences.
As a keen team player, you enjoy working with and supporting others. Some of our stations are the most lively and busy locations in the Museum, where you can appreciate the excitement of our visitors, whilst acting with initiative during our quieter periods.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
