We are looking for someone with a keen interest in the history of science to join our team of Science Curators at the Science Museum, as a permanent part time Assistant Curator working 17.5 hours per week!
About the role
This is an exciting time to be joining the Museum. We have a busy forward programme of temporary exhibitions and masterplan gallery projects, which the Science team will be contributing to. Alongside this, we are committed to continuing our core work to develop the Science Museum Group Collection and engage our audiences with this internationally significant collection.
Supporting the team cover core curatorial duties, you will also contribute to the Consolidation project. This project is Science Museum Group's major strategic initiative to re-imagine how our world-leading collection of objects relating to science, technology, transport, medicine and the media is cared for, accessed and shared. This also includes improving access to the collection physically, remotely and digitally. Enhancing collection documentation forms a key part of the Assistant Curator's role.
The position is based at the Science Museum but will require occasional travel to the National Collections Centre near Swindon and to other SMG sites as required. The working pattern for this role will be Wednesday, Thursday and a half day on Friday, every week.
Salary: £13,974 per annum for 17.5 hours per week

About you
You will have a proven interest in science and its history, as well as engaging audiences through inspiring and thought-provoking museum experiences. You will have exposure to the Museum world to help your knowledge of how to draw audiences with an environment like ours.
You will be highly organised, with the ability to conduct thorough research and collate information into engaging and clear formats. You will have a collaborative approach, with experience of building effective working relationships, and will enjoy learning new skills.
