The British Library offers a diverse and exciting programme of exhibitions, from Fantasy: Realms of Imagination and Buddhism to Malorie Blackman: The Power of Stories and Beethoven. Working as part of a small team in the Exhibitions Office you will play an important role in the everyday management of the Exhibition programme, working with staff both within the Library (conservators, curators etc) and externally with contractors to ensure the success of the programme. The post offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and with iconic literary and historical manuscripts, maps, photographs, posters, sacred texts, and sound.

The Exhibitions Manager role leads some of our onsite exhibitions in the Library’s Paccar Galleries. The role is responsible for the overall management of allocated exhibitions from concept to delivery working closely with an interpretation manager and exhibitions coordinator. Key areas of responsibility include management of the overall exhibition schedule, budget, design and build as well as line management of two exhibition coordinators.

The post-holder will have excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines as well as extensive experience of exhibition organisation. They will be an enthusiastic team player, and should be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Alongside excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills the post-holder will possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and demonstrate a willingness to support the department where needed.
