The National Railway Museum is not only famous for its unrivalled collections but also for its visitor care. The Operations department is an integral part of the Museum which demands the highest standards of customer service and care to maximise the customers' enjoyment of the museum.

About the role
We are now recruiting for a Duty Manager to join the team on a full time (35 hours), 8 month fixed term contract.

As Duty Manager, you will play a key role in upholding our standards and ensuring a fantastic experience for our visitors. Working closely with colleagues across all operational departments, you will ensure a smooth and efficient operations including the enjoyment, security, experience, well-being and Health and Safety of the Museum visitors, colleagues and contractors.

You will act as a floor-based manager delivering routine museum operations, as well as overseeing and coordinating responses to operational problems that arise during public opening hours. You will be able to operate independently when required as the senior manager on-site, ensuring that all KPIs and service standards are met.

This contract is due to start at the beginning of February 2025.
Salary: £26,436 per annum

About you
Whether you have gained your experience in hospitality, a security setting or even in a supermarket, we are open to how you have developed a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks whilst responding to the daily operational requirements.

With exposure to coordinating operational teams, you have experience of ensuring excellent service standards are maintained. As you will be responsible for the Museum floor, you will bring a solid understanding of health and safety standards; the ability to identify hazards and potential issues and ensuring appropriate action and escalation is taken.

Previous experience of incident control will also be helpful. Ultimately, you'll be passionate about exceptional customer service and will be able to inspire the same passion in others.
