At Science Museum Group (SMG), we are dedicated to keeping our unique museums open for all through the care of our collections, buildings, people and information. Supporting this group goal, our Corporate Information champions are tasked with managing all corporate information generated by SMG's activities, helping our colleagues in maintaining the Group's commitment to transparency and compliance with our access to information obligations.

To support this work we are now recruiting for a Freedom of Information Officer to join on a part-time basis, working 21 hours per week, on a permanent contract. This role can be any of the following sites: Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, National Railway Museum in York, National Science and Media Museum in Bradford or the Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton, Swindon.

About the role

As Freedom of Information Officer (known internally as Corporate Information Officer), you will share the team's responsibility for the facilitation of all aspects of our information rights compliance including the management of information requests from, colleagues and members of the public and guiding and advising colleagues on how best to manage their information.

Your work will focus on supporting colleagues with Freedom of Information and Data Protection matters. You will also assist in delivering projects emerging from SMG's Information Management strategy and with updates to policy and procedure to support compliance.

About you

Joining us, you will hold good attention to detail and organisational skills. You will have experience of handling information and requests with the ability to work with individuals at all levels of seniority across the organisation.

Crucially, you will have a desire to continually improve systems and processes with a proactive approach to solving problems.
