About the role:
Responsible for the unloading and rehouse of objects from across the collection as part of a major storage move project with a focus on archaeological assemblages, large objects including casts and sculptures, and textile collections.
This role is primarily technical. Problem solving is a key aspect of the role, and a flexible approach to working is essential.
Please note we have 2 roles available.
Key areas of responsibility:
• To facilitate the unloading, unpacking, and rehousing of objects across the collections
• To observe best practice in all aspects of object handling and collections storage
• To facilitate the packing of objects for permanent storage (as required)
• To monitor security of objects and to maintain them in good condition in storage and in transit
• To maintain and update essential object documentation, including location information and photography
About you:
• Good general education including GCSEs or equivalent
• Demonstrable interest in aspects of the Museum’s collections
• Manual dexterity
• Understanding and appreciation of materials and objects
