About the role:
The project is to upgrade documentation of the ancient Iranian metalwork (copper/bronze) collection in the Department of the Middle East, and help prepare an application for a 3-year research project on the scientific analysis of ancient Iranian copper-based metallurgy with the aims of understanding metal use, circulation and matching of type to function in the great metal-using periods of Iran, and explore provenance versus provenience questions through object histories.

Key areas of responsibility:
* To upgrade MI+ database entries and add images to the data-set
* To work as a team member with colleagues within and beyond the department on working parties and committees
* Submit a paper setting out the scope of the collection and/or a detailed study of part of it
* To map comparative collections and their level of scientific analysis
* Other duties as assigned

About you:
* MA/MSc (or equivalent) , BA/BSc (or equivalent)
* Good knowledge of scientific research
* Proven use of databases
* Open, effective communicator with good spoken and written English
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to present in public in an engaging manner
