About us
The team this role sits in at the Science Museum Group (SMG) are primarily focussed on delivery of projects at the Science Museum in London. Forthcoming projects range from new exhibitions and galleries, decanting galleries for our Masterplan capital projects, and digitising our richly varied collection.
We are now recruiting for a Collections Services Project Manager to join on a fixed term contract until May 2027. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week and is based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working available.
About the role
As Collections Services Project Manager you will be part of the Collections Services Project Management Team, carrying out scoping, planning and implementing programmes of work that cut across our three primary teams: Conservation & Collections Care, Digitisation (Documentation and Photography), and Registration.
You will supporting the Senior Collections Services Project Manager in delivering both Masterplan and public engagement projects. In addition to assisting in coordinating Collection Services resourcing, staffing and budget requirements for displays, exhibitions or collection projects.
You will be responsible for maintaining project documentation and reporting, including the coordination of object lists and programmes and providing project management support for budgets and financial reporting.
About you
Joining us, you will have experience in delivering projects with collections, enabling you to build effective working relationships with stakeholders in our Exhibitions and Masterplan teams. You will understand current best practice in collections management and care.
Crucially, you will have a high level of planning and project management skills, including devising schedules, identifying dependencies and writing specifications for work. You will have good communication skills (both verbal and written), with a proven ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external contactors.
