Do you have good event management experience with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and clients? Would you like the opportunity to provide effective leadership to Event Managers and deliver high quality events at the Science Museum?
About us
At the Science Museum we aim to inspire visitors with award-winning exhibitions, iconic objects and stories of incredible scientific achievement. The Science Museum's world-class collection forms an enduring record of scientific, technological, and medical advancement from across the globe. You will have the opportunity to work in a distinctive and truly remarkable setting which transforms formal galas, conferences, and private soirées into once-in-a-lifetime events.
We are now recruiting for an Events Operations Manager to join on a permanent contract. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week and is based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working available.
About the role
As Events Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing effective leadership to the Event Managers within the Commercial Events Team. You will manage a team to deliver the highest standard of events and maximise profit within the Science Museum. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with key museum stakeholders, suppliers and contractors and ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with the Science Museum's Health and Safety procedures.
You will maximise the profitability of events and corporate hire through increased sales performance, additional income streams and cost control measures. You will increase repeat bookings by delivering exceptional events and developing strong relationships with external clients.
In this role, you will be working closely with the Event Sales Manager to manage event bookings, support wider Museum projects and set annual budgets with regular reviews.
About you
Joining us, you will have good event management experience, ideally with medium to large scale events in multi-use venues. You will have a high level of customer service skills with the communication and interpersonal skills needed to build positive working relationships with various stakeholders, suppliers and private and corporate clients.
Crucially, you will have a collaborative approach to working with sound operational expertise and demonstrable experience in developing procedures. You will also be able to manage and motivate a team, from recruitment to performance management.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
