About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to support the Web Content Team in managing the exhibitions and events section of the website. You will be tasked with keeping on top of our high-profile exhibition schedule and building all pages for exhibitions at our London Bloomsbury site, across the UK and at international venues. You will also manage and support the building of our large portfolio of public events web pages, ensuring the events process is working efficiently.
In this role you will collaborate with colleagues across the Museum, but especially within the News, Marketing, Exhibitions, National, International Engagement and Interpretation teams to ensure all content delivered is clear and consistent and lands in the most impactful way for different audiences. You will monitor, measure, report on and apply learnings from the Museum's online activity to assist the Website Content Manager in implementing improvements to the website to help support the Museum's wider digital strategy.
Key areas of responsibility:
* Producing and editing content for the website, including:
o Developing and creating new web pages in liaison with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), including exhibition and event pages from concept through to delivery.
o Editing existing written content to fit brand and style guidelines, uploading this into the Drupal CMS.
o Commissioning, assessing and selecting appropriate copyright-cleared imagery to accompany content, using photo editing software, preferably Photoshop.
o Coordinating photo/video shoots as and when required.
* Following the editorial style guide, tone of voice and writing for the web guide in updating or generating new content.
* Optimising web content to align with SEO, helping other content writers across the Museum on SEO best practice.
* Ensuring the website adheres to WCAG accessibility standards, using a variety of tools to do this.
* Understanding the needs of the Museum's digital audiences and ensuring that digital content creation is informed by user testing, evaluation, and general web statistics and trends.
About you:
* Degree or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in content editing and production for large websites.
* Effective copywriting, copy editing and proof reading of short and long form content, using appropriate guidelines.
* Understanding of content design principles.
* Experience with Content Management Systems, preferably Drupal, Digital Asset Management Systems and an understanding of the technical requirements and limitations of these systems for managing multi-lingual content.
* Good knowledge of Google Analytics or similar packages for extracting data about content consumption in live products.
* Confident and competent in sophisticated image editing techniques in Photoshop, Illustrator and similar packages.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills, especially scheduling.
* Experience of making creative decisions in live production scenarios
* Excellent communication both written and verbal, especially with a range of contributors with multiple demands.
* The ability to manage and develop good relationships with internal/external clients/customers.
* A pro-active can-do attitude to all aspects of the role.
