About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong experience in data and Direct Debit management to support the Membership and Advancement work of the Museum.
As Data Manager: Membership, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our data processes, particularly focused on managing Membership data and Direct Debit processing. Reporting to the Database Manager and line managing the Database Assistant, you will oversee the day-to-day administration of data flow, maintain high standards of data quality and compliance, and contribute to broader system development in line with the Museum’s strategic goals.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Advancement department, Finance, the IS team, and our Direct Debit provider, ensuring our systems and data support excellent donor experiences and robust reporting. This role also includes contributing to data planning and supporting the future development of systems and processes, including potential changes to our data infrastructure.
Key areas of responsibility:
• Administering and managing data input and processing, ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance with UK GDPR, Direct Debit and PCI regulations, and sector best practices.
• Leading on the accurate and timely processing of Direct Debit payments and supporting broader collections in collaboration with the Membership Services team.
• Managing the relationship with the Direct Debit service provider, resolving issues and ensuring SLAs are met.
• Overseeing membership renewal data and supporting the production of monthly and bespoke mailings.
• Developing and maintaining robust data systems and processes that support membership acquisition, retention, and reporting.
• Collaborating on data improvement initiatives and supporting the Museum’s longer-term CRM and data development strategies.
• Providing training and support to staff on using Raiser’s Edge and contributing to a culture of data excellence.
• Line managing the Database Assistant and providing day-to-day support across data-related processes.
About you:
• Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong experience working with CRM databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
• Proven ability to manage complex data processes and ensure data accuracy.
• Experience of working with financial data, ideally within a membership or fundraising context.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams.
• Experience of line managing or supervising staff.
• Knowledge of Direct Debit processes and UK GDPR is highly desirable.
