Cultural Offer for Young People - Inclusion of National Museums
The NMDC welcomes the introduction of the Cultural Offer for Young People, a joint commitment between the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) for up to five hours of cultural learning and activity per child, per week. The Cultural Offer was included in the DCSF Childrens Plan.
National Museums place learning at the core of their ethos and are in an excellent position to help deliver on the Cultural Offer. Dr. Michael Dixon, Chair of the NMDC Learning and Access Committee, has written to officials at DCMS and DCSF highlighting why national museums should be fully and strategically included in the new Cultural Offer programme.
