UK Museum COP report

NMDC has published a report of the UK Museum COP event in October 2023, which aimed to secure consensus across museums on urgent action to decarbonise the sector and mitigate the impacts of the climate and biodiversity crises. Published alongside the report are findings of a series of case studies looking at the actions and costs required to decarbonise museum buildings.

Bizot Green Protocol

At the UK Museum COP event in 2023 NMDC members endorsed the refreshed 'Bizot Green Protocol', committing to environmentally sustainable practice across all areas of museum activity and the adoption of a 'greener practice first mindset'.

UK Museum COP 2023

Representatives of UK museums, sector bodies and funders took part in the first UK Museum COP at Tate Modern on 31st October 2023 organised by the NMDC. The event secured consensus from museum leaders on collective action to decarbonise the sector and mitigate the impacts of the climate and biodiversity crises.

Climate conference 2022
