NMDC submits evidence to Rural Tourism inquiry 6 Sep 2016
NMDC has submitted evidence to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee inquiry into rural tourism. The submission, also made on behalf of the Museums Association and Association of Independent Museums, outlines how museums are a crucial part of rural and coastal tourism and sets out a series of measures which could help museums maximise their contribution to rural tourism. These include encouraging product and place-based marketing, strategic public investment in rural and coastal museum, and tackling major infrastructure challenges of slow broadband, infrequent public transport and signage.
